    Description

    This darning/e
    mbroidery att
    achment
can be just what you need for your vintage Singer low shank sewing machine!
The item featured in this auction is the har
    d-to-find
    presser foot for darning, embroidery
, and other free-motion projects.  According to Singer, "Free motion darning and decorative work are accomplished with greater ease and more expert results when the darning and embroidery attachment is used.  This specially designed foot holds the fabric firmly while the needle enters and rises out of the work, while fully revealing the line of the design to be followed."
    Th
    i
    s
    attachment
is stamped "SIMANCO" and "U.S.A." and with its
    part # 121094
    to confirm its authentici
    ty.  It
    fits the Singer 27, 28,
most 66s, classes 15 and 99, 306 and 319, and many others, as well as the beloved Featherweights, 221 and 222.
    This example
    is
in good to very good used condition, with lots of shine and very few signs of age and use.  The spring has plenty of "bounce" in its action, going both up and down with ease and no hesitation.  It's
ready to go right to work and give many more years of use.  (NOTE:  In order to use this foot properly, you need a cover plate, NOT included here, or the capability of lowering the feed dogs, as in the Model 201.)
This particular foot is unusual in having half of its sections with what's commonly called the "blackside" finish.  This is a finish for metal pieces that came out
    during WWII
when chrome was reserved for military use.  Singer referred to it as "Black-Oxide" for the process used to produce its softly shining black color, and never used the term "blackside."  I call this one "half-blackside" since only one section has this finish, and this makes it even more dramatic, in my opinion.
In addition to the foot, I'll send copies of several pages from an early Singer textbook for home economics teachers called
    Machine Sewing
.  In case you've never done free motion work, these pages will get you started, and give you ideas for taking advantage of this fun attachment.  Finally, I'm including a COPY of the original leaflet which came with the foot - it has similar information as that in the book, but worded slightly differently, and is fun to have, I think.  (Sorry, this didn't make the pictures.)
    Here's your chance to add
    a
wonderful attachment to your accessories for your vintage low shank Singer!
